Preparation of procurement/operation of on-shore power supply points for international inland navigation
Overview
Berthing inland navigation vessels usually generate the electricity they need with their own on-board generators, which produces not only CO2 but also emissions of noise, particulate matter and odors. On-shore power supply points at berths for inland waterway vessels are considered to be an effective means of reducing emissions, but at the time of the project there were neither standards for on-shore power supply points nor payment solutions accessible to international users, for instance. Supported by funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), the Water and Shipping Administration commissioned Dornier Consulting to prepare a pilot tender for a comprehensive system of on-shore power supply points, including payment procedures.
